New Dems Release State of Play Ahead of the 2026 Midterm Elections

Washington, DC — Today, the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund (NDAF) publicly released a memo on the state of play less than 100 days out from the 2026 midterm elections. The memo lays out how and why the New Dems are well-positioned to deliver victories in the tightest races in the country, from holding frontline seats to ousting Republican incumbents in Red to Blue districts.

“With less than 100 days until the midterms, New Dems are on track to deliver a Democratic House majority,” said NDAF Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04). “This cycle, we recruited the best possible candidates in the toughest races on the map. Real people with deep roots in their communities, running on the issue that matters most to voters: bringing down the cost of living.  

“Our candidates are outworking, outraising, and outperforming their Republican opponents everywhere. We're investing in an expanded battlefield to flip and hold the seats that will decide who controls the House–and we’re playing to win."

Key Data Points

• 58 New Dems are contesting competitive seats, more than any other member-led organization.

• The Cook Political Report has shifted 35 New Dem races towards Democrats since the start of the cycle.

• 89 percent of New Dem-endorsed candidates have won their primaries, the strongest performance of any member-led ideological organization.

• New Dem Red to Blue challengers out-raised their Republican opponents in 21 of 25 races last quarter, up from 17 of 25 in Q1.

• On the whole, New Dem Frontliners have nearly four times the resources at their disposal compared to their opponents. New Dem Frontline incumbents have a cash-on-hand lead in 15 of 16 races.
