New Dem Candidates Rebecca Cooke, Jake Johnson win Key Midwest Primaries

Washington, DC — Tonight, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund (NDAF) Chair Greg Stanton (AZ-04) issued a statement after NDAF-endorsed candidates Rebecca Cooke (WI-03) and Jake Johnson (MN-01) won the Democratic nomination in their races:

“Voters in Wisconsin and Minnesota are hungry for change, and Rebecca Cooke and Jake Johnson are exactly the strong, pragmatic fighters their communities need to get things done,” said NDAF Chair Greg Stanton. “From math class to main street, Jake and Rebecca have spent their whole lives serving their neighbors. Meanwhile, their rubberstamp Republican opponents have been busy driving up costs, slashing healthcare, and bankrolling costly wars that hurt midwestern families. Come November voters will see the difference and send these two incredible candidates to Congress.”

Rebecca Cooke and Jake Johnson advance to their general elections to take on Republican incumbents Derrick van Orden (WI-03) and Brad Finstad (MN-01). Their victories continue New Dem candidates’ strong primary performance nationwide – more than 90 percent of NDAF candidates have won their primaries, the highest rate of any member-led organization.
